Triangle-Choker Web Slings
Triangle-Choker Web Slings feature metal end fittings — a triangle fitting on one end and a choker fitting on the other. Classified as Type 1 under ASME B30.9, these slings are purpose-built for choker hitch applications, where the sling wraps around the load and the choker end passes through the triangle to form a secure grip.
The metal fittings protect the webbing from abrasion at the connection points — the areas where synthetic slings experience the most wear. By taking the bearing load off the webbing itself and transferring it to the hardware, triangle-choker slings can deliver longer service life than eye-and-eye slings in repetitive choker hitch applications.
Amick manufactures triangle-choker web slings in nylon and polyester. The same material properties apply: nylon for shock absorption and flexibility, polyester for lower stretch and better acid resistance. All slings are built at our Pittsburgh facility.
Type
Type 1 (ASME B30.9 / WSTDA). Triangle fitting on one end, choker fitting on the other. Available in nylon and polyester.
Applications
Primarily choker hitch applications. Also suitable for vertical and basket hitches. Used in construction, manufacturing, pipe handling, and any application where the sling will be repeatedly used in a choker configuration and hardware protection of the webbing is preferred.
Exceptions
Same temperature and chemical limitations as all synthetic web slings: not for use above 194°F (90°C) or below -40°F (-40°C). Nylon is susceptible to acids and bleaching agents; polyester is susceptible to strong alkalis. Nylon loses approximately 15% capacity when wet. Inspect metal fittings for cracks, distortion, and excessive wear in addition to standard webbing inspection criteria. Remove from service per ASME B30.9 removal criteria.
