Eye & Eye Flat Web Slings
Eye & Eye Flat Web Slings are the most widely used synthetic sling configuration in industrial lifting. Classified as Type 3 under ASME B30.9, these slings feature a flat eye sewn into each end of the webbing body, creating a secure and versatile attachment point for hooks, shackles, and other rigging hardware.
Amick manufactures eye & eye flat web slings in both nylon and polyester webbing, available in single-ply and two-ply constructions. Nylon offers higher stretch characteristics that help absorb shock loads, while polyester provides lower elongation for more precise load control and better resistance to acids and bleaching agents. Both materials resist moisture, mildew, and rot — though nylon loses approximately 15% of its rated capacity when wet, while polyester does not.
The flat eye design makes these slings easy to position on crane hooks and easy to remove from beneath a load once it has been set. Their wide, soft bearing surface distributes load pressure across the full width of the webbing, reducing the risk of damage to finished or delicate surfaces during lifting.
Amick builds every web sling assembly at our Pittsburgh facility with a 5:1 design factor, exceeding the minimum safety requirements set by OSHA. Whether you need a standard catalog configuration or a custom length, width, or ply count, our team can fabricate it — typically with same-week turnaround.
Type
Type 3 (ASME B30.9 / WSTDA). Flat eyes on both ends, oriented in the same plane as the sling body. Available in nylon and polyester, 1-ply , 2-ply, 3-ply and 4-ply, in widths from 1" to 12" and custom lengths.
Applications
Vertical hitches, choker hitches, and basket hitches. Used across construction, manufacturing, steel erection, plant maintenance, and general industrial lifting wherever a lightweight, flexible, and load-friendly sling is required. The flat eye design is particularly well suited for applications where the sling must be easily threaded through tight spaces or quickly removed from beneath a seated load.
Exceptions
Not recommended for use in environments where temperatures exceed 194°F (90°C) or fall below -40°F (-40°C). Nylon web slings are susceptible to damage from acids and bleaching agents. Polyester web slings are susceptible to damage from strong alkalis. Nylon slings also lose approximately 15% of their rated capacity when wet. Web slings should not be used on loads with sharp edges unless proper edge protection or wear pads are in place. Remove any web sling from service immediately if it shows visible cuts, fraying, chemical damage, or UV degradation.
